Programme

Kotka will offer a staggering combination of The Tall Ships Races 2017 and Kotka Maritime Festival in July 2017. 

The grand opening of The Tall Ships Races Kotka 2017 will be held on Thursday, 13.7. at 3 pm at the Itälaituri Stage in Kantasatama (The Old Port).
Kotka Maritime Festival opens already on Wednesday 12.7. with their staple Maritime Day Street Parade, and also will offer additional maritime programme for early arrivers. Some of the ships arrive in Kotka already in the beginning of the week, so there’s a unique opportunity to some of the majestic vessels before everyone else.

The Tall Ships Races Kotka 2017 offers versatile programme for children every day. The children’s area is open in the Kantasatama on Thursday 13.7.  from 12 pm to 6 pm, on Friday 14.7. from 10 am to 6 pm, on Saturday 15.7. from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday 16.7. from 10 am to 2 pm. This programme is suitable for the small children as well.

Crew Parade will take the streets of Kotka on Friday 14.7. The procession starts at 4 pm and proceeds along the Gutzeitinkatu street and the Tallinnankatu street to the Arto Tolsa Arena.
The Prize Giving Ceremony for the first leg of The Tall Ships Races 2017 will begin at Arto Tolsa Arena at 5 pm.

The absolute high-point of the event is on Sunday 16.7. as the Parade of Sails begins at 3 pm and the tall ships will start their next leg towards Turku. Together we will a bon voyage to the ships leaving Kotka.

Most of the ships are open to visitors. Ships post their opening hours on the pier notification panel, and their opening hours may be subject to change according to dining and service times as well as private functions. Ships do not charge entrance fees. You will find the locations of vessels (by size class) on the map.
